Muhyiddin yakin Tok Pa ikhlas, enggan pegang jawatan Bersatu

TANGKAK, 27 Okt — Presiden Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin menyifatkan penyertaan Anggota Parlimen Jeli, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed ke dalam parti adalah ikhlas dan tidak berhajat memegang sebarang jawatan.

Beliau berkata Mustapa atau Tok Pa membuat keputusan itu kerana beliau yakin dengan perjuangan parti itu selain menyokong kepimpinan Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, yang juga Pengerusi Bersatu.

“Mustapa awal-awal lagi menyatakan kepada saya dia tidak berhajat untuk memegang apa-apa jawatan dalam parti, dan saya yakin beliau bersikap ikhlas untuk menyertai parti.

“Bersatu sentiasa terbuka menerima sesiapa sahaja yang boleh memperkukuhkan parti dan Mustapa pun dah lama (dalam politik) juga sebagai menteri dan anggota parlimen,” katanya pada sidang media selepas mengadakan perjumpaan bersama pemimpin tempatan di kawasan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Gambir di sini, hari ini.

Muhyiddin, yang juga Menteri Dalam Negeri, turut mengakui beberapa anggota Parlimen Umno yang lain ada membuat pertemuan dengannya untuk bertanyakan pandangan mengenai penyertaan dalam Bersatu namun mereka tidak membuat sebarang keputusan.

Mustapa yang bertindak keluar Umno bulan lepas, menyerahkan borang keanggotaannya secara rasmi kepada Dr Mahathir sambil disaksikan Muhyiddin dan pimpinan tertingginya pada sidang media selepas mesyuarat majlis pimpinan tertinggi parti berkenaan di Petaling Jaya, malam tadi.

Sementara itu, Muhyiddin yang juga Anggota Parlimen Pagoh itu berkata kerajaan sedang mengumpul maklum balas daripada pelbagai pihak sebelum memuktamadkan pemansuhan pelaksanaan hukuman mati mandatori bagi semua kesalahan di negara ini.

Beliau berkata, perkara berkenaan akan dibawa ke pejabat Peguam Negara untuk diteliti terlebih dahulu sebelum dibentangkan ke Parlimen.

“Kita sedang mendapatkan maklum balas dari pelbagai pihak, media pun buat kajian ada yang setuju ada yang tidak, setakat ini keputusan muktamad belum dibuat,” kata Muhyiddin yang juga Anggota Dewan Undangan Negeri Gambir.

Beliau berkata, meskipun banyak negara lain telah melaksanakan pemansuhan berkenaan, namun Malaysia perlu meneliti pelbagai sudut sebelum mengambil langkah sama.

Dalam pada itu, ketika berucap pada majlis berkenaan Muhyiddin memaklumkan bahawa kesihatannya kini sudah 60 peratus pulih selepas menjalani pembedahan membuang ketumbuhan di pankreas serta beberapa sesi kemoterapi.

“Pankreas saya dipotong 40 peratus begitu juga deodenum dan saluran hempedu turut dipotong. Saya perlu menjalani lapan sesi kemoterapi di mana empat sudah selesai, empat lagi akan dilakukan dalam tempoh empat bulan ini,” katanya. — Bernama
