Menurut Buenos Aires Times, cabaran itu juga didakwa ada kaitan dengan kematian kanak-kanak perempuan berusia 12 tahun di Argentina yang dipercayai membunuh dirinya sendiri.

Jika perkara itu disahkan polis, budak terbabit akan menjadi mangsa pertama Momo Challenge.

Cabaran itu dilaporkan telah tersebar secara meluas menerusi aplikasi WhatsApp dan Facebook. Sehingga kini, pihak berkuasa tidak tahu motif sebenar pelaku.
